Fiona Mathie
Fiona has over eight years of interior design experience, with five of those years spent designing retail spaces in Australia. Graduating with a first class Honours degree from Glasgow Caledonian University in 1997, she began working for a multi-disciplinary practice in the UK which specialised in institutional design. She completed interior schemes for many public projects including two £50m+ hospitals and joint venture renovations for a number of Glasgow schools. Having learned the basics of completing large scale design projects, presenting ideas and managing teams she headed off on a horizon-broadening world trip, making it as far as Australia before landing a role with a major retail design practice.
Over the past five years she has established herself on the Sydney design scene, with the majority of her experience gained at Edge Design. At Edge she played senior roles on projects as diverse as foodcourts for Stockland + Lendlease, cinema and bowling alley design in the Phillipines, McDonalds fitouts, a boutique vintage clothing store and a gallery for the National Art School (shortlisted for IDEA Awards 08). In 2007 Fiona went solo to gain experience running her own projects including residential interiors and the creation of graphic identities.
Since joining LDA, Fiona has proven her ability as an all-rounder completing detailed documentation and rollout packages for Oroton, Chantecaille and Simone Perele as well playing a significant design role in the development of a national retail design for David Lawrence, and lending her strong skills to concept designs for Vodafone, OPSM and Sportscraft, amongst others.
